A dramatic performance of the Latin Sibyls by the Goliards at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4 p.m. Vocalists Ashley Adams, Cuffy Sullivan and Jonathan Brazel along with Anne Durant, harp, John Hillenbrand, vielle and rebec, Jonathan Brazel, recorders, and myself, Anne Acker on the symphonie, a keyed hurdy gurdy.

Yes, I’m playing with a group that predates even harpsichord use! My good friends in The Goliards talked me into playing the sinfonye for their next performance. After all, it has keys, and who could pass up the opportunity to perform works by Hildegard of Bingen, and then the powerful Latin Sybils, that describe The Final Judgement.

So, I quickly learned to play the two new little beasties. It’s amazing to play instruments that fit into modest sized bags. I can carry two at once. Amazing!
